Short Biography

Vincent Blok was born in 1970 in The Hague, the Netherlands. He studied Philosophy at Leiden University. In 2005 he received his Phd degree in philosophy at Leiden University with a specialization in philosophy of technology and philosophical method. In 2002 he became manager of a business unit in the mental health care sector. In 2006 he became director of the Louis Bolk Institute, an international research institute providing research and advice in the field of sustainable agriculture, nutrition and health care. In 2010 he became lecturer and researcher at the Wageningen University, Management Studies Group. He teaches in the fields of innovation, knowledge & technology transfer and entrepreneurship. He is also research fellow affiliated with the faculty of philosophy, Radboud University Nijmegen.

 

Specializations:

Philosophy:

His main research area is the philosophy of technology and philosophical method. He focuses his research efforts on the domain of:

-                 Philosophical method (deconstructivism, hermeneutics, systems

theory, phenomenology, etc.)  

-                 Philosophy of language (dialogue, poetry, (non-verbal)communication,

          Translation, middle voice etc.) 

-                 Philosophical foundation of sustainable development

-                 Phenomenology of will and action

 

Management Science:          

His main research area is innovation, knowledge & technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Research questions are approached from a business administration and a philosophical perspective. He focuses his research efforts on the domain of:

-                   Systems approach in (supply) chains and networks

-                   Open innovation and social innovation

-                   Transfer of science and technology

-                   Sustainable development and social responsibility in innovation and

           entrepreneurship

-                   Business Ethics
